I’m Regan Hartman, J.D., a trained attorney-mediator specializing in divorce, custody, and family mediation. I believe that even the most difficult family transitions can be navigated with clarity, dignity, and far less conflict than traditional litigation allows.
My background spans from both law and research psychology, which strongly shapes how I approach mediation. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Research Psychology, with a minor in Neuroscience and Political Science, from Wilkes University. After college graduation, I attended the Southern Illinois University School of Law, and later transferred to Vermont Law School, where I obtained my Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree in 2021.
This combined foundation allows me to understand not only the legal framework of family matters, but also the emotional and relational dynamics that often drive conflict.
Throughout my legal experience, I’ve worked across several practice areas, including dispute resolution, family law, special education law, criminal law, contract law, and estate planning. Working across these areas has strengthened my ability to think critically, practically and creatively when helping clients navigate complex situations.
I believe that most family disputes are not just about the surface issue. They are often rooted in communication breakdowns, changing roles, financial stress, and deeply personal transitions. Mediation provides a structured, respectful space to address those realities and work toward meaningful resolution. While there are matters that need to be litigated, I strongly believe that many disputes don't require court involvement.
My commitment to mediation is shaped by both professional experience and personal conviction. I understand how overwhelming legal conflict can feel, especially when emotions are high and finances are strained. Litigation often escalates stress unnecessarily, particularly when children are involved.
Mediation offers a calmer, more constructive path forward. My goal is to help individuals and families resolve disputes respectfully, reduce long-term conflict, and create agreements that support healthier futures and more stable co-parenting relationships.

In my work, I provide neutral, unbiased guidance designed to help both parties feel heard and supported. Mediation is not about winning or losing, it’s about finding solutions that make sense, protect relationships where possible, and allow people to move forward with confidence.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband as we look forward to growing our family and building our future together. We also share our home with our two dogs, Bane and Deuce, who are constant reminders of the importance of patience, presence, and balance.
